Willem de Beer...Artist
Willem de Beer has been involved in picture making from his early childhood and sold his first painting at nine years old. Willem's school years were cluttered with art competitions in which he excelled. After studying at the University of Pretoria Willem became a full time commercial artist but from 1985 Willem devoted himself full time to be a professional artist. Since then, most of his paintings have been of wildlife, which is his passion.
In 1991 Willem's contribution to the "Whale Tail" exhibition in Nairobi and Kenya was purchased by HRH Prince Bernard of the Netherlands from among five hundred wildlife paintings. Apart from being a master wildlife artist, Willem has also distinguished himself as a portrait, landscape and marine artist, due to his commercial art background.
Willem`s client list includes names such as Lord Montague of Beaulieu for whom he completed several commissions. Willem's artwork also hangs in private and corporate collections in South Africa, England, Taiwan and the Netherlands.
Willem de Beer is a signature member of the prestigious Society of Animal Artists in New York City. He believes that the increasing popularity of his work goes hand in hand with his personal motto, 'to open a window on nature' for the viewers of his work. This published artist has many SOLD OUT limited editions to his credit.
