Sam Wilson...Artist
Sam Wilson studied art at Cheltenham and then Kingston University specialising in printmaking and illustration. Since graduating her work has been reproduced in magazines and newspapers worldwide, including House and Garden, Tatler and Marie Claire. It has also been featured in many books and on book jackets. Recently retailers have used her work in their stores and window displays including Harrods, Mulberry, Marks and Spencer and Clarks Shoes.
Alongside commissions her work is largely inspired by fashion and lifestyle. This carries through into her personal work with additional inspiration from characters both observed and imaginary. Attracted by the sublime and ridiculous, her subject matter is diverse and unlimited.
Sam works in a spontaneous way, drawing, doodling and painting in sketchbooks. The images are then assembled from her sketchbook, elements then colour and texture are added to bring the layers together.
She is passionate about her work and really loves to play with images, which shows through with humour and fun.
