Rob Milliken...Artist
Although Rob Milliken received no formal art education, he developed his drawing and painting skills over a period of time and has used a variety of mediums.
During the late 1980's Rob Milliken began using the egg tempera medium which he now uses exclusively. This medium suits Rob's methodical and detailed method of painting.
In 1993 Rob Milliken was able to give up the day job to concentrate purely on painting. The Society of Tempera Painters, a world wide organisation and based in the USA, elected Rob a member in 1997. Rob Milliken became actively involved and was subsequently appointed to the ExecutiveCommittee and became Vice-President in 1999. At this time Rob became a founding member of the UK branch of the society.
Rob Milliken is inspired by coastal areas. His paintings are of intimate close ups, whether they be of the battered sea defences or of sea shore pebbles and stones. Rob Milliken searches for the anthropomorphic qualities in his subjects and depicts them as such.
Rob's work has been widely exhibited and has been included in a number of publications including "The Artist" and "International Artist" magazines plus 2 hardback book publications.
