Richard Barret...Artist
Born in Cardiff, Richard Barret now lives and works in close proximity to the Peak District in Derbyshire.
Much of Richard's recent work has been influenced by the diverse beauty of the Peak landscape as well as his native Welsh coastline. Richar Barret draws inspiration from the unique interaction of sky, land and water to produce landscapes with their own unique sense of drama and emotion. Richard's paintings tend to reflect the "memory" of a place - exploring the feelings derived from it rather than just the subject matter.
Richard Barret works mainly with oils and acrylic, the paint being applied in layers and washes which are then rubbed back to create a feeling of ageing. Additional textures are developed with gesso and occasionally metal leaf.
