Phil Greenwood...Artist
Phil Greenwood was born in 1943 in Dolgellau, North Wales. Phil studied at Hornsey and Harrow Colleges of Art and was taught by some of Britain's finest artists- Ken Howard RA, Charles Bartlett RE, RWS and the late Christopher Saunders RA.
Phil Greenwood has been a professional printmaker since 1971 and was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Printer-etchers in 1982. Phil has exhibited both nationally and internationally for the past 40 years and is widely acknowledged as one of the country's leading printmakers.
Phil Greenwood has had many one man shows and contributed to major exhibitions, notably at the Victoria and Albert Museum and at the Tate Gallery. Phil is a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy and the Bankside Gallery, London. Internationally Phil Greenwood has exhibited in Paris, Athens, New Zealand, Tokyo and osaka.
Phil Greenwood's work can be found in both private and public collections such as the Arts Council, the British council, the Tate Gallery and the Greenwich Museum. Phil Greenwood is an artist whose work, whether in print or paint, is inspired by landscape.
Phil's images are an amalgamation of previous ideas and memories of visited places and times. Phil Greenwood is concerned primarily with recreating the mood and atmosphere of a particular landscape, rather than a literal representation.
