Frances Ackland-Snow...Artist
From an early age Frances Ackland-Snow has always used drawing and painting as an emotional outlet. Frances realised then that the paintings she created could evoke deep feelings in other people, the "Essence" of her work.
Growing up in Marlow upon Thames Frances was fortunate enough to be immersed in the picturesque surroundings and as a young girl she was never without a subject to paint. Upon completing a foundation course in Fine Art at Oxford, Frances specialised in painting at Brighton University graduating with First Class Degree with Honours.
She worked as a scenic artist for BBC Productions for three years. These formative years allowed her to embrace many different techniques and styles, which have enriched her art in many ways. Frances recently decided to devote all her creativity and time into painting. Says Frances, "The actual act of putting brush to paper is a meditative experience, moving the ink across the scene and letting the image flow into eternity. Each piece of work has come from the heart, without contrived effort. I paint purely from within using the landscape as inspiration.
This series of originals in pen and ink are the romantic response to the natural scenery of my own childhood.
