David Dodsworth...Artist
David was educated at Lancaster School of Arts and Sunderland Polytechnic, where he learned the fundamental technical skills of the draftsman and printmaker. He has always keenly pursued his own work, while teaching art part time and playing an integral part in the creation of the print studios at London Contemporary Art.
David was influenced at an early age by the religious paintings of Valasquez, Goya and Titian, and later by the New York Abstract Expressionists. He has become increasingly fascinated and pre-occupied with primitivism, religion and technology, inspiring much of his recent work. His mission is to provide artwork that is enjoyed by and accessible to a wide audience and to dissolve the barriers between art and people.
Noted for his handmade papers and abstract imagery, his work is part of numerous corporate and private collections around the world.
David's study of prehistoric cave art led him to discover an artistic room common to us all.
People as diverse as Margaret Thatcher, Elton John, Ravi Shankar and Robert Di Niro are among his collectors.
