Alexander Millar...Artist
Alexander was born in 1960 in the small mining community of Springside, a few miles from Kilmarnock. His father worked for British Rail and so young Alexander consequently spent much of his early years sitting in steam filled stations where the atmosphere & nostalgic setting was to have a big influence on many of his later paintings.
In 1976 Alexander left school & moved to Newcastle where, after a number of different jobs, he finally settled down in 1988 to become a professional artist.
Alexander is completely self taught & had one of his paintings chosen as a finalist in the Daily Mail's "Not the Turner Prize", which was subsequently exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London.
